It’s the beginning of the end I can hear a crowd form Yes the sound of rebellion hear them scream hear them roar I’ve waited for forever for someone like this His words and deeds have been like a soft cosy kiss But now is the time to take back what is ours This wait hasn’t been seconds minutes or hours I’m talking years upon years living like cowards But Jesus my general taking back the power He’s gonna crush The people Who hurt And desert me Oppressors who mock Offend and insult me Take me and break me Ensare and enslave me Hold that blade above your head It’s time for their gang’s blood to be shed Settle the score all win no draw Listen I can hear the crowd all applaud My king’s rolling in gonna lay down the law It’s the beginning of the end For so long I’ve wondered Who is he? How could he? I look at the people he keeps in his company Ladies of low living living loose like low life’s Killers and thugs and all those who don’t deserve Christ I get it: compassion, grace, love, mercy But when it comes to payback it’s quits on diplomacy That’s what he’s here for right? The crowds have all gathered But the sound that they’re making is more joyful than hammered Is that a cry or a laugh I can hear? Why does their baying for blood sound like cheers? Isn’t this a ruler riding in ready? To cut down oppressors and take ransom from many? Isn’t this the beginning of the end? It’s hosanna I can hear And they’re singing not shouting Surely a war hungry mob is mounting But hearing this sound is leaving me doubting He’s not on a horse looking fierce and mad But the people still give him all that they have He’s sitting on a donkey in the middle of the street That’s a sign of peace a sign of defeat And now the people lay palm leaves at his feet Even their best threads are coming off in the heat Cloaks, wool, 3 stripe, Levi Corduroy, leather, denim, are they high?? That’s their best gear like they want the white flag Peace peace peace but that’s not what I planned I don’t know what’s happening, who is this king Rolling in making the people sing It’s the beginning of the end I know I’ve been just as bad as the ones that I hate But the difference is I’ve always been on the right side of the debate I follow the God who promised to come I was sure he was here but now I think I’m wrong I know he knows what I’m like I know he kept me all the same I know I’m a thief and a liar I know he knows my shame But I can’t accept forgiveness and grace When my heart is filled with anger and hate So as I’m long as I’m stuck I’ll keep my coat on There’s no palm in my hand I think my hope’s gone It’s the beginning of the end, one way or another He’s not what I expected, he’s some holy peace lover
